Halloween Skittle Nails Pt.2- Return of the Beebs

I knew when I did my Halloween nails that there was no way in heck I was getting away with not doing some for the little Princess.  The down side to doing her nails is that if I am doing anything beyond a straight one color she starts to get fidgity.  For example: for this mani I had to do one hand on Friday and the other hand on Saturday. This made perfect sense to *her*, "it has to have time to dry, Momma!" but drove me a little batty... ha ha... batty... dang, I should have done a BAT... grrr.

Anyway, here's the final fidgity product... obviously before cleanup because we have to wait another hour or so for that, too.

She wanted different things than I had on mine (except the candy corn and Frankenstein) so she has crazy dots over stripes, a halloween flower, spiderweb and peep eye ghost, skull, witch hat, jack-o-lantern and an eyeball.
I really liked how the jack-o-lantern turned out, I wish the sparkle in the orange had translated in the photo.  It's China Glaze Riveting, a gorgeous orange glittery shimmer that's *almost* a one coater!!

I hope you liked seeing the miniature versions of these nails, which are definitely a challenge since her nails are so little.  We really did have fun doing them and she can't wait to go to school and show them off!
Hope everyone is having a great weekend!!

Quick Fall Mani

Quick post today!! For this mani I used 2 coats of China Glaze Brownstone followed by 1 coat of Rush 60 Second  topcoat (my personal fave!).  After wearing this for two days I decided to spice it up with accent nails done with 1 coat of Elf orange glitter. (There was no name on it, so if anyone knows if there is one let me know.)  The glitter polish was super thick but totally workable and the glitter payoff was fantastic, completely worth the 95 cents I paid for it (thank you Big Lots, lol)!

While I adore the final product every time I wear Brownstone, the formula leaves a little to be desired. It's thin and tends to pool by the cuticle if you're not careful (and honestly, even when you ARE)  and it's very, very patchy on the first coat.  The second coat will usually even out any bald spots and typically that's all I use but you may need a third coat in some cases.

My family in Ohio posted on FaceBook yesterday that there's SNOW already....BRRRR!!  I swear it was just last week we were all complaining that it was  still so freakin' hot....  How's the weather in your neck of the woods??

Have a great day!!!

Halloween Skittle Nails

This is an unusual year for us.  Normally Halloween is *our* holiday, I mean like bigger than Christmas!  Unfortunately there are things going on this year that are  preventing us from celebrating in our usual style.  That being said, I refuse to let the holiday pass without doing at least a little something ;)   This skittle mani was inspired by a bunch of different pics I've seen on various nail blogs lately. (Patchwork nail tutorial by The Nailasaurus here, abstract candy corn tutorial here.)

I had a patchwork nail, peeping eyes, polka dots, bloody bruised nail and abstract candy corn on my left hand. Frankenstein, stripes, ghost and 2 glitter toppers on my right hand (which I think turned out pretty darn good for having to do everything on that side with my non-dominant hand!!)

I really had a LOT of fun doing these and I'm hoping to keep them on at least through the weekend. I definitely pushed my limited artistic skills and I'm over the moon with how they turned out.  What do you think??  Next time I really want to include a zombie and a mummy... what else??

Products used: Orly Liquid Vinyl (black)
                         Pure Ice Superstar (white)
                         Pure Ice Free Spirit (green)
                         Sinful Colors Pull Over (yellow)
                         China Glaze Riveting (orange)
                          Elf orange glitter
Hard Candy Masquerade (white, black, red topper)
OPI Zombody To Love (green glow in the dark)
Sally Hansen French Shimmer (milky off white)
                         Man.ish.ma Ramblin' Red
                         CoverGirl Outlast Vio-last  (purple)
                         Rush 60 second top coat
Scotch tape, striping tape, dotting tool, small detail brush (which was actually from an old dried up liquid eyeliner because I didn't have a fine enough brush to do the patchwork!)

So, what do you think of my Halloween skittle?  I think tomorrow I may do one on Beebs since she keeps grabbing my hands to look at mine :)

Biggest Mistake Ever :(

You know what I hate? When you've just started something and then BAM!! "Life" gets in the way... I don't know what the next few months will be like, but I will try my best to start keeping up with this blog.  I've got tons of pictures to post and they're all "real life" pics, not posed ones taken in a light box :)  Not that I have anything against that, I absolutely adore the macro shots and crisp cleanliness of those pics but they are just not "me".

Today I'm going to start with a pic of the single biggest nail mistake I have EVER made:

Oh yes, I did :(
Yep... acrylics... YIKES!!  Believe me when I say that I definitely learned my lesson and I will never, ever, ever, never do that again.  That was back in March of this year and my nails have *just now* pretty much recovered.  I didn't think they would ever stop splitting and peeling :(  I had to endure months and months of tiny little nubbins too.  Like this:
Anyways, the only two good things to come from that day are the fact that Beeble got her first "professional" mani/pedi and I got inspired by the art they did on her, which eventually led to me playing around and starting this blog. So a mixed bag I suppose :)

Here are her pics from that day:

Hopefully for the next post I'll have my stuff together and it'll be a little more of a "review".

Thanks for taking the time to stop by!!

Hello and Welcome!!!

This is my first official blog entry and so far I've spelled everything correctly! (I try to set realistic goals for myself, it really boosts your self esteem o_0)  Anyway, I decided that since I do my nails (and Beeble's) so often I might as well share and get some input.

Ok fine, my husband is tired of me shoving my hands in his face saying, "Look! Look! Isn't it pretty?!?!!!"

But I digress...

There are so many nail blogs out there that I absolutely love and try to take inspiration from but I'll be honest, I'm kind of a noob and a lot of that stuff is, well, it's HARD.   So here I am...nothing fancy, just a plain old Momma doin' her nails with her little helper :)

Anyways, here's a few pics of some of our blunderings. Obviously I wasn't overly concerned with cleanup when I took these...and Beebs still doesn't like to wait for things to dry :)

I guess that's it for this first post. Thank you so much for taking the time to check us out.
